In Chapter 14 the group need to make some difficult decisions such as whether to scout the rapids.

There are several leaders of the group during the course of the book – see pages 14, 115 and 126.

What qualities does a good leader need to have?  Use the characters in the books to support your argument

Here’s an example: To be a good leader the person needs to have in-depth knowledge of their field, just like Al who is a very experienced wilderness leader.
